It would be great to have the live chat availability status to be automated if all HubSpot browsers are closed, someone isn't signed in, etc. vs. having to toggle on & off manually
You’re absolutely right — it would be great if HubSpot could automatically change the live chat availability based on whether anyone is actually online, has their browser open, or is signed in. Right now, HubSpot doesn’t support that level of automation.
At the moment, availability can only be automated through working hours. HubSpot cannot detect:
when all users are logged out
when no one has the inbox open
when browsers are closed
So the chat status still needs to be toggled manually if your team isn’t available. A few partial workarounds do exist (like using working hours or setting yourself as Away), but none of them fully automate the “online/offline” indicator.
Hey @CMcphail2 - thanks so much for posting in the Community!
I can definitely see this value in this functionality, for which I highly recommend posting in our Ideas Forum! This would allow other users to upvote the idea and echo the need directly to our Products Team! If you do post, feel free to tag the URL to that post here so that we can start upvoting it!
