Allow dependent properties to persistently show on the sidebar for Help Desk

It would be great if we could show the dependent properties on the sidebar for the Help Desk.

For example:

I have a property for our products and a dependent property for the versions. This works fine on forms, but to view this information on the sidebar, all I can see is the product and not the dependent property for the version after it has been selected. It's useful for our team to see what version of the product they are working on.

Hi @GTorres08,

I think you were really close by adding the card but the 'Conditional display logic' needs tweaking.

Here's what I suggest:

 

1. Click add card.
2. Fill out details. Note the 'Properties' and 'Conditional display logic' values. Click Save.
3. Rearrange your cards as desired.

Hi Ryan,

Thank you so much for this well-put-together solution. This solution works. I'm able to achieve the needed logic to display the Product and the respective versions on the sidebar. I have 30+ products to set this up for and it's working, but it requires me to setup so many cards.

For efficiency, I'm hoping for the idea of only needing to set the product ticket property with a small checkbox to toggle if I'd like the dependent ticket properties to show and remain persistent on the sidebar, instead of disappearing. Then if for some reason you need to change the product entirely, the correct properties show up for the new product selected and you do not need to set up so many cards.

Great point, George. The thought crossed my mind of how a lot of cards would need to be created if you had a lot of products and corresponding version properties. Your suggestion would be a great solution! Help Desk is pretty new, so hopefully this type of functionality is added soon.

I Just upvoted your idea. In the meantime, we recommend checking customization options available within the Help Desk settings that might allow you to modify the sidebar view to include dependent properties.

Hi Pam! Thank you for the upvote... much appreciated.

I checked the sidebar customization options and I don't see anything that can help. What would be awesome is right under the properties you want to show, there is a check box that says "show dependent properties" so that each property can be configured.
