Inability to remove autocrawled image

SOLVE

Short version: bring back the "remove link preview" option in the social publisher!

Previously, Hubspot's social tool provided users with the option to remove a link preview and autocrawled image that was associated with a link included in a draft social post.

When the publisher tool was upgraded a few months ago, the "remove link preview" option was removed, but there was a work-around. You could draft a social post as a Facebook post, remove the link preview & image, clone the post for a different platform (Twitter or LinkedIn), and it would create the post for LinkedIn or Twitter without the link preview.

This week, it appears that the ability to remove a link preview and social image is no longer available. This means that you either have to keep the autocrawled image associated with a link or create/edit an image with the right proportion for each platform for every post that includes a link. This is especially frustrating if your organization shares their own content or that of partners / industry publications.

Hi @khays At this time this is not possible due to the way Facebook and Twitter  respond to our posts. They get a link and crawl the preview, then generate on their own, so there's no way to tell them not to do that unless you attach an image to the post so they don't generate a link preview and just show the attached image.

Thank you.

Hey there! We recently signed on with HubSpot and planned to discontinue our current scheduling tool so we can exclusively utilize HubSpot. However, text-only posts without a link preview are pretty vital to our content strategy. Therefore, I wanted to second the importance of this feature to be added to the scheduling tool. As it stands, our current program allows us to scheduled text-only posts with links in the copy to both LinkedIn and Facebook. So my hope is that HubSpot will bring back this functionality.

Hi Ed, Thanks for your reply. Hubspot support shared a similar response. It's unfortunate that the functionality has changed (either as a result of Hubspot's update or as a result of how Facebook and Twitter respond to Hubspot-scheduled posts), as it was previously possible to remove these previews in the past.

*fingers crossed a future update allows us to remove the link preview and crawled images*
