Facebook Reach Reduction

New Member

Hi All,

First post on here.

Quick question. On or around April 10th our Facebook "reach" has been reduced by nearly 2/3 per post.

Same "type" of content. Same general best practices.

Anyone else experiencing?

Hey @itsmejono!

Welcome to the HubSpot Community!

Due to Cambridge Analytica, Facebook is making some changes to their API and what they allow, as well as changes to their algorithms.

The full announcements can be found here: https://newsroom.fb.com/news/2018/01/news-feed-fyi-bringing-people-closer-together/
https://newsroom.fb.com/news/2018/04/restricting-data-access/

Over the past few months, we at HubSpot have been working with Facebook to understand the full impact of all of the above on HubSpot. What we've gathered so far is that posts from third party applications such as HubSpot, Hootsuite, Buffer, etc. have a lower chance at matching Facebook's new algorithm patterns. As they have not made these public, software companies collectively have been working to find workarounds in order to increase reach and engagement.

Buffer and Sprout have also worked, as we have, to produce workarounds to beat Facebook's algorithms:

We are digging further with Facebook to get a full scope of these changes, as well as more approval through Facebook's Pages API. As this is affecting all third party apps in regards to Facebook, it appears to be both intermittent and with no indication of an end in sight. We are communicating with Facebook on how much this will affect going forward. In the meantime, we are doing as much as we can to sort this out.
