Does the LinkedIn "first comment" feature track any link clicks?

SOLVE

So, I am quite sure that the new feature to add a first comment to a planned LinkedIn post exists because LinkedIn has gone bananas and severely limits any post reach if it excludes an external link.

I wanted to ask if the new feature does track the link clicks for the comment or not. Because if not, then it's a nice feature that's useless when it comes to analytics (especially, since LinkedIn analytics does not just count link clicks as clicks but every single click on an image, etc., so we rely on the Hubspot analytics for LinkedIn to show us actual link clicks)Screenshot 2025-01-09 at 11.12.09.png

The LinkedIn "first comment" feature itself does not seem to track link clicks directly. While you can add a comment with a link to your post, LinkedIn’s native analytics often treats clicks differently, counting interactions on images or other elements like comments. This means that link clicks in the first comment may not be tracked the same way as those within the post itself.

As you mentioned, HubSpot analytics is a great way to get more accurate tracking for actual link clicks, as LinkedIn’s built-in tools may not provide the level of detail you need.

So, while the "first comment" feature is useful for keeping the post clean, it’s not as valuable for tracking link clicks unless you rely on third-party analytics like HubSpot for better insights.

Thank you John,

it's what I suspected and really good to know. It might still be possible to track the organic social media link clicks via Hubspot traffic, so that is a good tip (because I really want to see if the "link in comments"-tip actually works or if LinkedIn also punishes this workaround, plus, I assume not everyone looks into the comments, so it's very much a poker game).

Yes, I wondered because we got 0 clicks on the links in the comments and, well, December is always awful, especially on LinkedIn but it made me think if it was maybe just due to the fact that clicks don't get counted.
