I Need Insight About Social Media Presence

I care a lot about my company's social media presence and I am sure you care about yours too! I am curious about two things:

1.  We are looking to expand our presence among a wider range of social media platforms. In that case, what platform is most successful for your company in regard to gaining new customers?

2.  YouTube is the most used platform of social media, so what do you all think of having a presence on YouTube?

I Need Insight About Social Media Presence

Hi Paul!

So for your first question, the fastest growing platform right now is Tik Tok. Most brands are still in the Facebook, Instagram phase and are working on porting over content to TikTok or building a difference "voice" on that network for their company. Many agencies for ads are pushing ad spend in the TikTok marketplace. I know the place I work for will be switching to concentrating efforts on ad spend there next year. This does depend on where your audience is at the same time, and you may need to test out the platforms and see which ones you get the best response on. Getting new customers will depend on ads, and organic outreach, and providing content of value that is also engaging. Taking 30 min to an hour a day to engage with people that would be attracted to your sales and services will help. There is a method for doing this, I won't go in too deep, but look into organic outreach and engagement tactics.

For question 2, I think if you have valuable contest to share on youtube, you should do it or look into streaming ads in there if you do not have the content built in yet.

Also, don't overlook the power of podcasting. A lot can be done in that space. It will take consistency just as it does with social media, but the potential for a return can be great. Especially if you can get on other like-minded or related podcasts and in turn promote your own brand's podcast.

Hi @pauledwards ,

If I am in your shoes, I may first ask why my company need to expand presenece among a wide range of social media platforms? A good rule of thumb is to build presence in the platforms where the target customers are active....no matter it is for brand awareness or getting conversion. I find that going through the social media marketing certification course in HubSport Academy will help my understanding about why, what and how to present in social media platforms sink in. I will recommend the course.

Post deciding on the right social media platforms, content is what will nurture the engagement with your target customers. Brian Honigman and Sam Dey are the two instructors who teach social media marketing in LinkedIn learning. They pointed out that a business' content in social media platform are better structured around three pillars-- educate, entertain and inspire. Pick only one or two out of the three is okay and we are to bear in mind that only having content to push for sale will alienate people in social media, though getting a deal closed is one of the ultimate goals we want.

Specifically on Youtube, it is a social media platform, but also the 2nd largest search engine and one of the most popular online TV streaming content digitally. Probably the question that we are to consider is less on whether the business need to have presence on Youtube or not, more on what we want to achieve there  (brand awareness through owned content, and/or Youtube ads, and what is the next step/call to action if someone clicks the content/ads) .

Above are my initial thoughts. Hope this helps.

Hi Paul,

This is a great question, I'm curious what type of business do you have and do you handle the entire social media strategy by yourself?

Respectfully,

Jori

Hi @pauledwards,

First of all I'd like to know more about your brand like it's niche, target audience and your goals. But if I have to provide a genralized answer, I'd second your thought of embracing YouTube to increase your social presence.

YouTube drives good number of referrals and conversions. I'm saying this with personal experience since YT is the biggest traffic and conversion source for our own brand among all social channels.

Moreover, I'd agree with @kvlschaefer that you should try LinkedIn as well. If you follow the right promotional strategies, be professional and patient, LinkedIn would come out as the best platform to grow your social presence.

You can also try other platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook but if you're heading towards them, make sure to have a strategy for them first instead of making posts on them just for the sake of it.

But I'd recommend you to try Pinterest as well since it's an amazing platform for businesses and can increase your social presence. If you're skilled in your design and visuals game, Pinterest could be a game changer for you.

P.S. Every platform has it's own nature and needs to be treated differently. If you can't do that, just focus on a few where you can make real quality posts. You'll get great results.

Hope this helps.

I Need Insight About Social Media Presence

Hi @pauledwards,

These are excellent questions!

1. I might be biased since I'm a Community Manager, but have you ever thought about starting an online community?  A community can take away the stresses of purchasing and it helps establish trust and confidence by showing prospects that they can make human connections and see that there's a support network. An existing customer could make a purchase based on a community post as well!

As for existing social media networks, I've found that LinkedIn is a powerful channel for gaining new customers. Depending on your buyer personas and industry, Instagram and Facebook can also be effective channels!

2. I think that having a presence on YouTube can do wonders for content creators and businesses. YouTube increases the chance of ranking in search engine results, particularly video search results!

I'll add some members of our study group to get the conversation going!

Hi @MaraAccelerates@Sam62@DavidDennison@AMujidat@SHeredia@EPaglia9@DayFive@Listen2sunrise- Do you have any thoughts for @pauledwards

Thanks!

Best,

Kristen

I did not think of adding a community. It sounds amazing though.
