No two social media audits are conducted the same. How would you go about conducting one? What resources would you tap into? What reports would you run? Or if you've already conducted social media audits, what did you find to be the most helpful in gathering data?

I have personally never ran a social media audit because I only started my business 3 weeks ago. I am still new to all of the social media marketing techniques. If I were to run an audit today I would start by seperating my vanity metrics from my other metrics. I would still include them, but would focus on ones that are going to lead to being able to determine my ROI. By taking this social media marketing course I have learned a lot, but have also realized how little I knew about social media marketing. I will defintely using apps for social listening and monitoring in the future and will definitely start compiling the daily data to make it easier to perform this audit approximately 5 months from now and then again in 12 months from now.
When I briefly conducted an audit what I found most helpful in gathering data is that there were certain posts that were more engaging than others. We will be rethinking our social media strategy and what to include when posting. In addition, we’ve tested some polling posts and found that people are engaged. We’ll need to consider doing more. We have only been focusing on one particular site, we'll need to start engaging with our other social media sites we do not post as often.
I would prefer to choose the metrics that my clients are expecting from the project. However, I will make sure the social signals are meeting the goals of the organisation and, accordingly tract those information that define the ROI of the project. What do you say about my practice?
It's a lot of information that we can gain from the SM audit. Starting with the owned channels I think is one way to go. I like the idea of checking the content-engagement connection to see what topics work better with the specific audience of the channel.
I would first see how much the brand is directly interacting with its followers. Is there any dialogue happening on their posts? If so, what is the tone? Is the brand using cookie cutter responses or are they putting some thought into it? I would also want to see how much reach this brand has, and how their content is being talked about and shared. Are users just clicking "like" and moving on, or are they engaging by sharing and commenting?
way to go! That was one thorough audit you just pointed out. Reflect that on your business goals and you should know where you're at social media wise. And what more you need to do to get over the hump. Thanks!
yes, true that. Keeping your goals in mind is a key first step. It should be as you go along. IT's easy to lose track of your direction without setting yourself a target. Thanks and great advances ahead!
and reflect them on your social media business goals that way you know where you're at and what you need to do to not just get by but to shine as a brand!
I would track the engagement on my different kinds of posts. I'd also track traffic to my website and where that traffic comes from related to posts, campaigns, etc.
and compile all those data to see if it got you any closer to your business goals and KPI. The trick here is how to collate all those data (massive data) into actionable insights. Happy social media hunting ahead!
and reflect it on your KPIs. your goals should guide you so you know where you're going how much work you still need to do or if you've lost your way. Thanks!
