How to break into social media marketing with no experience?

Marketing is a super hard job to get into!

Especially if you're a new grad looking to break into the field. Almost everyone wants to be a social media expert but they never get it right. There's a hack though, apprenticeship or interning.

I got my start in marketing through an accident. I created a "Groupon for small business" that morphed into a digital marketing agency. I moonlighted and worked with contractors to get the work and learned along the way.

When I look at my journey it was a series of fortunate accidents and mentorship that truly helped me.

At Glance, I decided that we need to invest in newbies breaking into marketing and giving them a chance to succeed.

I connected with Acadium as a way of hiring marketing associates that could be mentored, but I was initially skeptical. After a couple of false starts, we found Zoe Ramsey who has turned into our social media lead.

It's exciting to see her journey of learning and progress. Please see Zoe's story as a fresh grad breaking into the marketing field.

Thanks for this post it is very Intresting.

I have a question that I'm hoping your experience can help with.

How likely are you to be successful with no "formal" marketing experience. I'm talking no degree and no previous experience from actual companies that can provide references ?

I can't really speak to the "likely". I am hoping the job you take gives you the education instead of the degree. There's enough evidence in the past for jobs being the first place of learning🙂.
