Weeks of Failure Integrating Shopify to Hubspot Enough is Enough!

SOLVE

I am utterly exhausted.

I Have my domain on GoDaddy.  My Store on Shopify.  And I really want to use Hubspot as my CRM -- after all, I already entered most of the information for my 200+ customers into it.

HOWEVER...

I've watched dozens of videos - chatted with support at all 3 of my vendors -- and nothing works.  And yet every single video shows people setting thins up in less than 3 miuntes.

When I first added the Shopify app to Hubspot - I synced my 42 products and it was easy peasy lickety split -- done.

So next I tried to sync "Companies" and all I get is error messages.

I am on the free plan - the sales person at Hubspot just to sign up for the free professional trial -- ask for help, then decline to purchase the subscription.

But that seems like overkill.

So... This is one of sveral variations of this message that I have gotten -- and is the one I got just now after making all sorts of domain updates last night while on tech support with both GoDaddy and Shopify.

I know "maybe" propagation hasn't been completed -- but c'mon already.

I am not the least tech savvy person ever - but certainly not the most.

What the heck can I do to make this sync happen already?

Anyone willing to help me step by step on the "Hubspot sync for Dummies" method?

Please!?

I'm pulling my hair out.

Thanks in advance.

Also, checking this article: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/integrations/connect-and-use-hubspot-data-sync

Wouldn't you simply change the objects you want to sync instead setting up a new Shopify connection? If your products already sync you just need to expand the scope of the existing connection?

SOLVE

Well Frank - unfortunately the good, bad and ugly...

The Good: Your link solved my problem.

The Bad: see screenshot

The Ugly: At $2300 per month -- Shopify Plus is just impossible.

I have no clue why this one sync field is the one I need and is the only one not available with Hubspot to Shopify.  So I'm off the find a new CRM.

I truly appreciate your help.  Truly.

What I have been doing is:

Data Management --> Integrations --> Shopify Data sync --> Sync More Data [my products are already synced] -->

--> Next -->

Hi @PEdelson

So isn't that simply the 50e... bit. I assume that is the unique identifier similar to your HubSpot portal ID.

That is where your shop actually resides. Have you tried copying/selecting that?

Weeks of Failure Integrating Shopify to Hubspot Enough is Enough!

SOLVE

Okay @PEdelson

We are slowly getting somewhere.

Please explain in detail and with screenshots how you are getting to this point: "In order to perform a Companies sync b/w Shopify and Hubspot I get all these error messages from Hubspot about updating my DNS settings."

I am not aware this would ever come up so want to understand what you are doing and where that prompts this error message.

Feel free.to share a screen recording if that's easier than multiple screenshots.

SOLVE

Thanks Frank -

When I read about and also watch videos of Hubspot - Shopify syncing -- it seems like if it takes you more than 5 minutes to set it up -- you've done it wrong.

So when I copy the [50e304-d2.myshopify.com] into that field -- it simply loops me in circles back to the very same screen.

If I enter endless other options... bupkis.  Just gets those error messages I pasted in a previous reply.

"Wouldn't you simply change the objects you want to sync instead setting up a new Shopify connection? If your products already sync you just need to expand the scope of the existing connection?"

YES -- but how?

SOLVE

Hi @PEdelson

Sounds frustrating, but could clarify something for me.

You talk about issues with a company sync but your screenshot is showing a domain setup. These are two very different things with different troubleshooting steps.

What is the actual issue or issues?

What domain are you trying to connect?

What sync errors are you getting for companies?

Thanks

Weeks of Failure Integrating Shopify to Hubspot Enough is Enough!

SOLVE

Every time I update my DNS settings to either get my Shopify storefront online it knocks off my Hubspot CNAME.  And vice versa.

In order to have my CNAME = Name [www] and Value [shops.myshopify.com] WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY MY STOREFRONT WILL STAY ONLINE

AND

Have a CNAME Name = [www] and Value = [47130894.group44.sites.hubspot.net.]

is simply NOT possible.  So no sync will ever be possible UNLESS I figure out how to have both.

And that is above my Tech Paygrade at the moment.

SOLVE

Hi @PEdelson

Okay, still not sure how that relates to syncing data from Shopif, which seemed to be focus of your original post, but here is the issue:

www and shops are both subdomains, you can't have a www.shops.myshopify.com domain, which would be a sub-subdomain, it's simply not possible (it kinda is but requires a really technical setup).

Which domain does your actual shop in shopify "live" at? And why do you want to connect a hosting domain for HubSpot content? Do you want to host HubSpot landing pages or a website on HubSpot?

Weeks of Failure Integrating Shopify to Hubspot Enough is Enough!

SOLVE

Sorry if I am confusing...

I'm lost on a lot of this lingo

In order to perform a Companies sync b/w Shopify and Hubspot I get all these error messages from Hubspot about updating my DNS settings.  So I do it... and instantly my storefront goes down.

I re-do the settings to get my Shopify Storefront back online - and instantly my Hubspot connections arre down.

I need to somehow have both in order to have a sync runnings.

So right now I have my www.shops.myshopify.com domain live -- which is more important than Hubspot CRM -- I have DNS settings ready as Shopify recommends.

Instantly I get this:
