Happy to help @PamCotton and congratulations on following your passion by pursuing a career in SaaS sales @RuthCarey, how exciting!
The first thing I would recommend is to get a job in sales, regardless of the industry, so you can start sharpening your sales skills immediately and show that you're committed to the change - this will help you build your resume up while you work on finding your dream job in SaaS.
Here are other things you can do to get started:
1 - complete the Sales Hub Software certification from HubSpot Academy, this will help you get a better understanding of how software companies are using HubSpot to sell services.
2 - explore the other certifications, like sales enablement, frictionless sales, and maybe even sales management - this will help you understand the big picture a lot better and give you a more complete view of your role, how SaaS companies are thinking, etc.
3 - start researching SaaS companies and make a list of the companies you'd like to work for and those you wouldn't. You can use this list as the basis to identify what you're looking for in a company, role, culture, benefits, etc. so you can focus your efforts when you're ready to apply. Taking a job in SaaS for a company that doesn't align with what you want will only set you back and can dampen your motivation.
4 - start networking on LinkedIn, find BDRs/SDRs who work for the companies you'd like to work for and follow their content, engage with their posts, etc. (without asking for help, you're trying to build relationships like you would in SaaS sales, not cold pitch them for a favor).
This should help you get started on the path, happy to help if you have specific questions along the way!

Contact a Channel Manager from one of the Technology Solutions Distributors such as Telarus, AVANT, Sandler Partners or Intellisys. Sign on as an Agent and immerse yourself in all the education available. Absolutely zero cost and you’ll probably make some $ along the way. Best of luck!
Transitioning into SaaS sales without prior SDR/BDR experience is absolutely possible. Let's invite some top experts to this conversation, @Karrar, and @Jnix284what would you recommend to @RuthCarey?
