Any way to assign a specific email thread to a specific Deal in Hub Spot?

We currently use the gmail hubspot integration to log contact/companies which works great in normal situations. However we have a lot of scenarios where we often work with the clients of other companies, and many times have no contact with the actual client.  So we can't create a deal and tie it to our contact/company that we're emailing, because then that deal gets flooded with emails from dozens of other clients that have no relation to that specific deal.

Is there any way to use like a forwarding address or something to send a specific email thread to a specific deal in Hubspot CRM, using maybe the deal ID or something? 

Thought of maybe using the Hubspot Inbox, so I created a google group for sales for us that sends emails in there, but oddly you cannot associate any of those emails with a deal at all from within Hubspot.

Hello everyone, 

I would like to follow up here as I can see that the thread is 2 years old and I hope that this issue has been automized in any way. My issue to make it clear (just in case I missed the point of this thread) :
1- My company deal with partners (companies)
2- In every partner, we have a contact person who handles few deals for our company
3- Sales rep exchange many emails with this ONE contact about these FEW deals 
4- As the email threads are assocciated with the contact automatically and to any deals assocciated with this contact
The issue: How can I assocciate sepcific email threads (being exchanged with the same contact)- without others - to their respective deals?

Same issue here: Some contacts have many deals. For a deal-focused working, I'd like the feature in the inbox to assign emails only to one or more specific deals. Otherwise, clicking on a deal would reveal ALL the conversations with a contact, which is not helpful. I'd like to see only these emails that where relevant for that one deal.

I am trying to figure out the same thing. I think at this point in time the only solution is to disassociate the emails in the inappropriate deals, manually.

Hi @jron,

Are you looking to be able to associate the email only with the deal, and not with a contact or company? Or is your concern that the deal is overrun with communication from the other contacts? 

While there is no way to only associate an email with a deal (other than deleting it from a contact record), in the second scenario, you could use the association feature to connect the contact that matters with the deal, and then add the other contacts through a custom deal property to ensure their names are associated without having their emails clutter the timelines. 

Please let me know if I am misunderstanding the issue and I am happy to continue brainstorming.

@jennysowyrda  I'm trying to specifically find a way to tie an email to a deal without using a contact/company (because sometimes that contact/company gets flooded with other deals, making the automatic association fill the deal with irrelevant information).

I created a workaround to use, where we have a generic email now (sales@ourdomain.com) and we use google's email feature to include a + that's named after the deal, so something like sales+dealname@ourdomain.com and we start cc'ing/bcc'ing that address on the thread and then just associate the deal with that email. Works great!

I use Outlook and every time I send an email to a contact on deal, it goes to every deal that this contact is associated with

I am joining this conversation now.  I found your link hard to understand. I just wish to add an email to a deal. The contact is a delivery company with 1 email. But i have multiple deals, and want to be able to email the delivery company, but link different deliveries (emails to the same contact) to log against different deals.  This way i can see each deal, and what delivery details are associated to that deal. How do i asign emails to a deal - not a contact?
