What is a best practice for creating a free tier of pricing in products.
SOLVE
My company offers a subscription sign-up process that is available on a monthly and annual basis, and it also includes a free option. I'm interested in developing a feature where users can "acquire" the free version, allowing us to establish a contact and account. This would enable us to provide them with our product and potentially explore upselling opportunities down the line.
My aim is to avoid collecting payment information during the initial sign-up, as this often discourages potential customers. Is there a best practice by which we can introduce a product that is entirely free and only necessitates a simple registration process and not filling out CC information?
In this scenario, I would probably make the initial sign-up a basic form vs a payment form. You can use a workflow and a timestamp to set the date of the free option so that you can work on the upsell when that subscription comes to an end. At that point, if they upgrade, you can collect payment and start the new subscription.
With more details or discussion I may have some additional ideas as well, but that's my initial direction.
