Task Screen - Company Name, Revenue, Number of Employees

resolver

Within my Task screen the Company Name field is blank on most of my contacts. I understand this field is a free form field and is not the Company table - Company Name.  This workaround is to populate the field using a workflow from the Company record.

The issue that I have is that I haven't found an example of a workflow that does this on the newest version of Hubspot. All I can find is older versions of the workflow.  Has anyone out there created a new workflow for this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi @CFischer59,

By new version of HubSpot, do you mean the new workflow creation interface?

If so, create a new workflow, click the blue "Skip..." link at the bottom of the left sidebar (or the middle tile at the top), then you can chose contact or company as a starting object and everything's as usual. Proceed to copy the values (using the 'Edit record' workflow action) - however you like to set it up.

If you're getting stuck, please share a screenshot.

Best regards!

Task Screen - Company Name, Revenue, Number of Employees

resolver

Hi @CFischer59 ,

the “Company name” you see on tasks isn’t automatically tied to the actual Company object, so the only way to keep it filled is with a workflow. In the new workflow builder, the flow is still pretty similar:

  1. Create a new workflow from scratch (click “Skip” when HubSpot suggests templates).
  2. Choose Contact-based workflow.
  3. Add an action Copy property value. From there, set it to copy the Company property (for example “Company name” or “Number of employees” or “Annual revenue”) into the corresponding contact property you want to display on your task screen.
  4. Re-enrollment: turn it on so that if the Company record updates later, the Contact gets refreshed with the new values.

That way, the Company details flow down to the contact and show up in your task panel. HubSpot has a step-by-step doc here if helpful:

Some teams also create a little bundle workflow that copies company name, revenue, and employee count all at once to save time. It keeps your task view clean without manually updating.

On a side note, if you ever need those Company properties synced out to other systems (say Salesforce or a reporting database) in real time, platforms like Stacksync can handle the propagation automatically without building separate workflows for every field.

Handy if you’re juggling the same issue across multiple tools.

Hope this clears it up!

Thanks Ruben for that great explanation on the workflow and the tips.  I followed those items you provided and created the workflow and it's working great. It's a big help to have this information on the task screen for quick reference for warm calling. Being able to reference things like this is huge with my sales people.

Thanks again,

Chris
