We recently switched over to using the Lead Object in the hopes of getting rid of our Pre-Qualified Deal Pipeline.
I am noticing that the sales team is still going into the Sales Deal Pipeline to create deals, when I want them to use the Lead Object first, which will then create a deal once the Lead is Qualified.
Is there a way to limit deal creation for specific people? Or have specific elements that must be met in order for the deal to be created?

Limit Deal Creation
SOLVE
Yes, HubSpot offers features to control deal creation and ensure specific elements are met before deals are created. Here's how you can achieve this:
You can configure the Lead Object to prompt for deal creation once a lead is qualified. This ensures that deals are only created after leads meet specific criteria.
Steps to Set Up:
Navigate toSettings > Objects > Leads.
Go to thePipelinetab.
Toggle on"Require a deal to be created"for the "Qualified" stage. This setting ensures that when a lead reaches the "Qualified" stage, users are prompted to create a deal.
Limiting Deal Creation for Specific People
You can control who can create deals by restricting deal editing access based on specific stages in your deal pipeline. Here's how:
In your HubSpot account, go toSettings>Objects>Deals.
Navigate to thePipelinestab.
Select the pipeline you want to configure.
Scroll to thePipeline Rulestab at the bottom.
Use theControl deal editing accessoption:
Select the stages where deal editing should be restricted.
Choose who can edit deals, such as "Only super admins" or "Specific users and teams."
Save the changes.
This will limit who can create or edit deals in specific pipeline stages, effectively controlling deal creation access.
Adding Specific Requirements for Deal Creation
You can enforce rules that require specific conditions to be met before deals are created. This is also managed in thePipeline Rulessection. Available features include:
Limit Deal Creation to Specific Stages:
Specify stages in the pipeline where deals can be created.
With this rule, users can only create deals in the allowed stages via HubSpot, integrations, or APIs.
Approval Process for Deals (Sales Hub Enterprise only):
Set up an approval process that requires deals to be reviewed and approved before they can proceed. This ensures deals are only created once certain criteria are met.
Restrict Deals from Skipping Stages:
Prevent users from skipping required stages in the pipeline, ensuring a structured process.
Restrict Deals from Moving Backwards:
Prevent deals from being moved backwards in the pipeline, maintaining a forward progression.

Limit Deal Creation
SOLVE
@indiracatmedia have you checked whether limited deal creation still allows for creating a deal from leads? Unless the product team missed this one, deal creation through a lead pipeline would still be subject to the same creation restrictions as a deal created directly in the pipeline.

Hi @karstenkoehler, thanks for the feedback! You are right. If you limit the deal creation in the pipeline, you will limit the deal creation in the Lead object if the stage you are limiting is the same as you are creating your deal on. An alternative could still limit the deal creation in pipeline rules, and automate the deal creation of that stage using a workflow. For instance, once the Lead stage is Qualified, create the deal on x stage, effectively limiting the deal creation before qualifying the lead 🔥

@LNitti if you make it a single checkbox property, that's effectively how this would behave, yes. Unchecked, the deal could not be created, checked, it could.
