Deals to Quotes: Add in a second "Quantity" Line Item?

SOLVE

Hi everyone,

I have a seemingly simple need that is causing havoc with my partner training and the finalization of our hubspot build.

When creating line items, HubSpot allows you to have a "price" and a "quantity" to multiply horizontally.

My company actually uses 2 quantities: Number of Participants, Number of Timepoints.  For arguments sake, their name doesn't make any difference. . .

The math I need within the line items is:

(Quantity 1) x (Quantity 2) x Price

It is imperative that these two quantities are allowed to be their own variable for each line item, otherwise I have to use an outside spreadsheet or quote tool which defeats the purpose of running the math through HubSpot in the first place.  Neither my HubSpot Implementations Expert or our third party have been able to figure this out.

Best regards,

Brian

Hi @BEcclefield. I'd try to use a custom property, although that won't help with standard reporting. You'll have to create custom reports with the custom properties and rely on those.

I'd also add this to the ideas forum. Product managers monitor those ideas and try to implement the popular ones.

Thanks for the reply Dan. I have added this to the Ideas forum under “Deals.”

In the short term I have created a custom property, but I can’t connect it to the “price math.” At least there is now a reference point in the quotes which makes things a little easier, we just have to manually multiply it across against the “Base Price/Cost” for each line item. This is functional in the short term, but it does leave some margin for error that would be easily rectified behind the scenes by allowing an option for multiple quantities.

@BEcclefield happy to help - and also, agreed. I didn't figure it would act as you need it to, connecting to the "price math." Hopefully the idea helps - I'll weigh in on it there to help amplify it!

Hey @BEcclefield, Happy Monday!

One option is to create custom properties for each line item to represent your additional quantity fields. You can then use workflows or custom scripts to perform the necessary calculations using these properties. This way, you can maintain the distinction between the two quantities and still use HubSpot for your calculations.

To our top experts, @TomM2 and @danmoyle any recommendations for @BEcclefield matter?

Thank you,

Pam
