Company based Lead association

SOLVE

Hi!

I'm having some trouble figuring out a way to associate activities to company based leads.

Currently, communication or even notes is "saved" on lead cards.
Leads based on contact works as expected, but not company based. I have tried to find a way to associate via a workflow, but it seems it won't let me since "hubspot is automatically associating".

Let me know if you have follow up questions or need clarification on the issue.

Hey @JonathanBright! This isn't a direct solution, but customizing your Activity Associations could possibly help... check out the video for more info:

Hi @JonathanBright
HubSpot automatically logs activities to the company record, but those don’t always carry over to the lead card, especially when the lead is company-based and doesn’t have a primary contact tied in.

That’s why the activities show up in the tracker view but not under “Notes” or “Recent Communication” sections on the lead record.

What you can do here go to Settings > Objects > Leads and turn on the toggle that says "Sync lead activities with lead owner" this helps bring in activity visibility to the lead card. Also, make sure each lead has a primary contact associated if possible that helps with better syncing.

Yes, I can see that that one needs to manually set a contact for the lead in order for it to properly associate to the widgets in the leads records cards. This solves it correctly displaying notes and communication.

This was not the solution I was hoping for, but it seems it's to only one available since workflows based on leads can't make any associations.

I believe this could be something Hubspot needs to develop a bit to so that the user experience becomes better.

In theory I believe the logic is already there, but needs some tweaking, in this example it showcases it can display previous activities without a contact associated. So Hubspot should create widgets that perhaps follows this logic but also displays activities continously and not only past before the lead record was created:

Hi @EmmaAtKiwi , thank so much for this. This was super interesting.
It seems this was not quite the right solution but we could be on the right track.

What is interesting here on the lead card is that we do see that it registers activities (such as note, calls etc). But on the dedicated sections on the lead record card for notes, recent communication it does not display these activities.

We are using the default view. So it registers activities specifically for the Lead stage Tracker card, but no other.
