Can you associate a contact record to a deal playbook

Is it possible, with a playbook, from a Deal record, to save a Q&A response to a contact property and associate it with a contact record on that deal?

Your Sales Hub edition affects what you can do here.

 

If using Sales Hub Pro:

  • playbooks were recently enabled for Sales Hub Pro, but can only capture text answers and save them as a note. (cannot save to a property)

If using Sales Hub Enterprise:

  • You can assign a question to update a contact property, BUT it will only do that if you use the playbook on a contact record.
  • If you use that same playbook on a deal, you will see a warning on the question linked to a contact property as "Properties can't be updated for this object on this record."

The workaround would be to:

  1. Create deal properties, to be applied to some or all contacts associated with the deal
  2. Create a playbook which updates those deal properties
  3. Create a Deal based workflow which
    1. triggers when those deal properties are updated
    2. copies the property value(s) to either:
      • All contacts associated with the deal
      • or to a subset of contacts, based on their association label (for example, copy only to a property on the "Decision Maker" associated contact record.
