Can I edit a sequence after people are enrolled?

SOLVE

I have a few sequences created, and since HubSpot doesn't allow contact to reside in multiple sequence (such a limitation imo) I want to be able to simply add a new step when there is something worth sharing with prospects.  And it saves the trouble of creating a new sequence just to send one email.

Is there something I am missing or is this possibly on the roadmap?

Thanks,

Hi @MRandjelovic,

Here's an article on editing active sequences.

This should give you the answers you're looking for.

Can I edit a sequence after people are enrolled?

Hi Team,

Looking to re-open this as a feature request. Key quote in the above article "Already enrolled contacts will need to be unenrolled then re-enrolled to go through the updated sequence steps." Turns into a logistical nightmare when so many contacts are in different steps in a sequence.

I don't find that article to be very helpful. I was on the phone with Hubspot support and they said that if you have a four email sequence, and you enroll people, send the first email, and then realize there's an error in email #3, you cannot edit the sequence. You have to unenroll everyone. But, customer support said once you re-enroll them they start back at email #1.

The alternative is to unenroll everyone, create a new sequence without the first email, then enroll everyone in that. Seems a bit strange that you can't just edit the sequence given that we have that capability when sending a marketing email.

The final alternative is just to create one sequence per email, which defeats the purpose of a sequence.

Everyone discovers errors after the fact when drafting emails. It is super inefficient to have to follow a 10 step process to fix a very simple error.

That provides an answer, but not the one I was hoping for. Please please Hubspot product team, create ability to update email content in a sequence for active enrollees. I've just emailed expired content to my enrollee list, and now need to manually reach out to apologize, which counters the whole point of creating a sequence. The alternative is not creating sequences, but a series of Tasks that I manually review and send out prior. Asking for a friend here!
