For one of our educational clients we are using the following business workflows for new prospective families, contacts.
Admissions Officer sets the lifecycle stage of the contact to SQL, A Lead is automatically created for that contact.
After a few email exchanges ... etc. Admissions Officer sets the Lead Stage to Qualified or Disqualified for that Lead. If Qualified, a Deal is automatically created for that Lead.
The problem is; many times prospective families/contacts have 2+ kids and we need to create a deal for each child (sometimes a child may be accepted while the other child(ren) may not), we need to follow up their status in the pipeline individually. Each student follow pipeline stages (school tour, testing, interview, accepted ... etc.) at different times and the outcome might be different.
But we can not associate multiple deals with that one lead created in the beginning of the process. When we try to add the second deal we created, to the Lead, it replaces it with the existing one associated with the Lead, not adding it as a second deal.
We are able to associate multiple Deals to a Contact but then they would not be associated with the Lead. And there would be no point of using Leads if we follow the Contact to Lead path.
And it does not make sense to create a lead for every child, because we are working, communicating with same lead/contact, for all of their children simultaneously.
I checked the settings, associations ... etc. but couldn't find any solution or workaround for this.
Is this 1 Deal for every Lead by design and can not be changed or there is a workaround, setting we can associate multiple Deals with a Lead,
I have checked and can confirm that currently, a lead will only be associated to 1 deal at a time. I understand that this can be confusing as from the lead tool, it can show as 2.
The reason why this is, is because when clicking into a lead, it's actually showing the associated contact record on the right hand pop up. If you click on "view record" you'll see it's set to the contact record. This is where the deal is being associated, multiple times, not to the lead. So to clarify, currently deals can be associated to multiple contacts, but just a single lead.
There is not a native way to associate multiple deals to the same lead that is already created. HubSpot does not offer this feature at the moment.
I would recommend submitting a feature request for this here in our ideas forum. The Ideas forum is the best way to let our product team know about features that our users would like to see implemented in the portal.
