Assign different HS users in sequences

Here is an example of an email sequence I'm trying to create

1. Email (main user)
2. If no response, call/leave VM (sales rep)
3. Follow up email (main user)
4. And so on...

Is there a way to assign one step in the sequence to another HB user?

Although this can be done in Workflows, this would be so useful to sequences. We have Sales Reps also call as a part of our SDR sequences and would be great to assign to other users like in workflows.

Short Ans: No.

Longer Ans:

HubSpot Sequences are inextricably tied to YOUR HubSpot Sales account to send one-to-one emails, and/or create SELF-ASSIGNED tasks.

You may certainly have Sequences create tasks in a specific task queue, and have another user monitor that task queue for activity. However, that 'other user' will receive no notifications of created/pending tasks since they are not assigned to them.
