Deal amount matching Payment received

Hello, 

If a payment is received on a quote, will the amount on the associated deal automatically update to match the payment amount received?

If this is not a native setting, is there a way to configure it as such?

When a payment is processed, it should update the Deal amount as noted in the Knowledge Base article here. 

Please let me know if I did not understand your questions or if you need additional clarification!

Thanks for your reply. My question was more about the amount being updated
on an existing deal.

For example, the below scenario:

1. Quote is created and associated with an existing deal that has a deal
amount of $1999
2. A $200 discount is given on the quote, making the total price $1799
3. The deal amount is not updated by the salesperson and is still $1999
4. The customer makes payment for $1799 via the button on the quote
5. The quote was associated with the deal, so the payment is saved on
the deal record

*Does the amount on the deal automatically update from $1999 to $1799 to
match the payment amount received?*

I haven't been able to find an answer to this question in the knowledge
base.
