Auto Populating Property Fields

Hello,

We are in the process of migrating from another CRM to Hubspot. All of the contacts have been migrated over, however of course all of the property fields and the notes / history was not populated.

Is there any way to have the property fields auto populated and have the notes transferred? We have thousands of contacts so it will be really time consuming for me to do this manually. It's also not ideal that we lose all the notes history.

We are not able to set up any reporting at the moment because there is no data in the property fields.

The property fields we normally report on are: 

- location

- product

- source

But we need other property fields populated, such as budget, time frame, size etc

Any hacks / workarounds would be super appreciated!

How exactly are you migrating the contacts? For example, if you're doing this via export/import, then during import you can map your previous CRM's fields to HubSpot fields. The information you want to have in HubSpot needs to be made available to HubSpot in some way, either via import or sync. Without that, HubSpot cannot automatically populate information.

Regarding notes, they can be imported, too. You can find a sample import file for notes here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/set-up-your-import-file#multiple-objects-with-associations

How exactly are you migrating the contacts? For example, if you're doing this via export/import, then during import you can map your previous CRM's fields to HubSpot fields. That is really helpful thanks so much! We are working with a Hubspot partner who did the export / import for us, however only the main contact details were imported (name, phone, email). He mentioned that we would need to pay for a 3rd party system for the other fields but I wanted to check if there was another way around that potentially was missed. It may be that the issue is with our current CRM provider (Freshworks).

Hi @MYS,

I don't have the full picture, but as long as Freshworks lets you export data (additional fields like street address, persona, job title etc) that data can easily be imported into HubSpot.

For notes, as mentioned above, there is also an import functionality.

For other activities (sales emails for example) third-party solutions are required, correct.
