Adding New Association Cards

SOLVE

I created a new association card under customize record for a contact that I am using the track referrals. However, it is copying over anyone in the "contacts" card already associated. Also, When I add a contact to the referred by, it adds them to the contacts card. I want this new card labeled "referred by" to be it's on thing and not just pull over the contacts already associated. Do the association cards have to be linked or is there a way to unlink them so that they work independently (ie I can have someone in the referred by card and not show up in the contacts card) I am currently using the free version.example 9.10.24.jpg

Thanks for the additional context @JBoobar.

I can see where the confusion is occuring, there are different types of cards you can use in different areas of an object record. What you want to do is not done via an association card but rather through association labels.

Simply calling it "referred by" does not change the fact that you are looking at a contact to contact association, which is why you are seeing the same contacts on the right hand menu. Wheras creating an association label called "Referred by" or "Referer" would show up in the normal contact card as additional information, kinda like this:

Hope that helps.

Adding New Association Cards

SOLVE

Hi @franksteiner79 --

Building off this question, is it possible to separate contacts by association labels into 2 cards? I have "parents" and "learners" and all are associated contacts to a "learning program." I'd like to have 2 contact cards for each of the two associations. Can I?

Thank you!

Hi @JBoobar

A few clarifying questions:

Where does the "referred by" information live in your CRM? Is it a contact property, a separate object, or something else?

What type of card are you using to display that information?

What are your card settings?

Thanks

Adding New Association Cards

SOLVE
Frank,

Hopefully this answers your questions. I created this card by going into
the Default view of Record Customization. I then clicked, add card, then
create card. The only option to choose is "Associations".

Once in there I updated the card name. The properties that are required are
First and Last name, and I left those as is and saved the card.

Then once in any contact, under this card, I can select a contact to
associate just like I would when I associate under the default card
"contacts". What is happening is that any contact I add under the
contacts card or the referred by card, shows under the other card also. I
don't want that. I want to be able to select a contact under the referred
by card, and have it only show there. I don't want it to also show in the
contact card automatically. I use the contact card association for
something entirely different like for a spouse for example.

Can the referred card act alone and not also associate to the other
association cards? There was a screenshot in the original post.
