Best post-sale email you’ve received?
Pablo Picasso said “good artists borrow, great artists steal.” and while we can’t advocate stealing ideas there’s certainly room to be inspired by the approach of brands in all other sectors. Without giving away personal information, post a screengrab of a great post-sale email here.
Great question! I agree that reviewing marketing emails is one of the best ways to learn and be inspired as a marketer and learner.
I can't think of the best email I have received, but a recent email includes the "thank you for signing up" email from Good Housekeeping. It has a good color scheme, layout, and verbiage and has inbound marketing in the email, including links to informative, engaging, and fun topics/articles. I recommend it.
At the time I was looking for something for my wife and I remember i signed up for something but, it was a small mom and pop shop type of store I signed up and I remember I knew like I cannot mess up i wanted to impress her this time I wasn't expecting anything when I signed up except for the regular now your email list bombard email strategy but this was 2 weeks before mothers day and our anniversary is a few days after I check my email every mourning the next day they sent me this link to an upcoming restaurant and it was a nice discount it also included a free spa day. I did not care about the restaurant I knew better places but the spa day I knew she would like it. so I cashed in the restaurant early and I used the rest of the money to max out the spa day for her. spa day was free everything included restaurant money was used for later or whatever she wanted after leaving
I also don't know if it was for a special event or not why it was given for free but I can tell you I still order from them for flowers, cards and cakes
I won't post it because it contains a lot of links BUT I joined a chamber of commerce dedicated to Veterans and their thank you email included a zoom member-only background, links to an upcoming expo, a growth academy, schedule of events, and how to access our communication app and join.
It was extremely helpful since everything was consolidated.
I didn't receive a positive post-sale email yet. I have been bad experiences with customer services and the sales department, so that's the reason that I have to try to do my best to be a great seller and customer service representative. People need better post-sales services. If you do that, you will get success.
The best I received was after I made a large investment into some fitness equipment for a garage gym I was starting. I was thanked for my purchase, and more importantly was basically lead to "as you expand your new gym, we reviewed your order and made 5 recommendations for some add ons to the rack and equipment you bought to give you a broader range of workouts." That lead to offers later on for some of the same equipment they suggested and 5 months later i pulled the trigger on 2 of those items during a sale.
This is by far the most valuable and most important "module" of the sales engagement. A customers "trust" is everything, and sale isn´t just a sale! That´s very important to understand. A follow up regurlarly is so important, and also knowing your products to the bone, and then can give the customer a satisfying update 4 times a year. It´s pure gold for business. Post sale is so important, and should be on the agenda for everyone. Give the customer(s) and 5 star service, every time!
Seems trivial, but after a problem with my phone and calling support (pain point), instead of getting the very non-personal satisfaction survey, I received an email from the person I was talking to (pretty sure now it was automated all the same), where they reminded me of a free perk I had at the time of the buy that I completely forgot about.
And only then asked me to rate the service. Of course, they received the best rate.
Why did I love it so much? As a marketer and copywriter, Candy Kitten's tone of voice in this email was just... *chef's kiss*
It's incredibly on-brand and actually made me want to read the rest of the content. Considering they could have written a super boring "thanks for your order" message, I think they've smashed it out the park.
