How to link email conversations for a deal to a deal

Hey everyone,

I have a question about linking emails to deals. I've just finished uploading our entire sales pipeline to HubSpot, have integrated our email client, and have added all of our contact info too. I have a question about how I can link specific emails/email threads to a deal. For example, we had an email come in this morning for one deal I created yesterday, lets call it "Yellow Deal".

I can see the email in my HubSpot inbox, and I have the contact that sent the email linked to the deal. However, when I go to the deal and click on the "emails" section, there's nothing in there. Is there any way I can add the email to the deal? I see I can "log" an email where I can summarize what was said in the email, but I'm not trying to log the email, I want to link the email itself to the deal, and preferably when a reply to that email is sent, it would also automatically be logged in the emails section of the deal. Is this possible? I've read some other similar form posts that area a few years old that seem to indicate that HubSpot can't link emails or email threads to specific deals, but this seems like something that should be necessary for any CRM so that we can easily track activity for our deals. 

EDIT: Also, some of our contacts are involved in multiple (30+) projects with us. If it's possible to link emails to a deal such that when an email related to that deal from the contact arrives in my inbox, it will be linked only to the deal in the subject line, or are all of the emails associated with a contact linked to every single deal they're involved with? I just want to make sure I won't have to be digging around through the emails tab on a deal where we're working with a contact we do lots of work with on other projects to find the specific emails that are related to a specific deal.

Well, it is true, dragging and dropping emails immediately from the inbox to deals isn't as truthful in HubSpot. Here are a pair of options to link emails to offers:

1. Open the e-mail in your HubSpot inbox. At the pinnacle, click on the "Link to" button. This will open a popup wherein you may choose the deal you want to link the e-mail to.

2. Open the deal, then visit the Emails tab. Click the "+" button to feature an email. This will open your HubSpot inbox wherein you can select the e-mail you need to feature.

3. Install the HubSpot Sales Chrome extension. This will upload icons next to each e-mail allowing you to link emails to objects like deals without delay out of your inbox.

Here are a few ways to hyperlink emails to deals in HubSpot:

1. When you're composing an email in HubSpot, there may be a "Related to" subject where you could pick the deal you want to hyperlink the e-mail to. This will mechanically link that electronic mail thread to the deal.

2. You can drag and drop emails from your inbox into the "Emails" phase of a deal. This will hyperlink that particular email to the deal.

3. You can use e-mail logging to summarize an email and link it to a deal. From the deal, go to the Logging section, pick Email as the sort, fill out the summary, and pick the deal you need to link it to.

For linking incoming emails: HubSpot will routinely hyperlink emails from contacts to any offers they're associated with. However, it would not recognise which unique deal an electronic mail is associated with if they may be related to multiple deals. In that case, you will want to manually drag the e-mail to the precise deal it relates to.

You can use email tags to tag incoming emails as relating to a particular deal. Then you can clear out emails by means of the tag to speedy see all emails related to that deal.

So in precise, yes you could clearly link particular emails/threads to deals either manually or by way of the use of the e-mail composer. And for contacts concerned with a couple of offers, you may want to manually report emails to an appropriate deal or use tags to become aware of deal-particular emails.

Hi Madhur,

Thank you for your reply. I have a question about your second suggestion about dragging and dropping emails into the deals. Do you have any links to videos or instructional info on how to do this? I can't seem to find a way to drag and drop emails, whenever I try to click on an email to drag and drop it, it just starts highlighting text. I'm also not seeing where exactly I would drag and drop to as I don't see any way to go from my inbox to the "email" section of a deal without leaving my inbox and going to deals.
