DNS settings in Outlook

SOLVE

Morning All
I am having trouble getting DNS set up and verified.
We use Outlook across our organsiation, though I am the only person using HubSpot.
It seems we need to update the information in Outlooks side, though how do we do that to make sure that both Outlook and HubSpot will send emails for both me and the rest of the organisation that dont use Hubspot.
Have read the help pages and spoken with help desk but am at the point where I just want someone to tell me what I need to do, rether than refer me to look at Outlook support or Hubspot trouble shooting as I am going round in a loop.

Can anyone help, please?

Hi @DWeller you won't need to make changes in Outlook for HubSpot, you would need to make the updates with your domain provider to configure the appropriate DNS settings.

Your domain provider would be where you have your website domain registered, for example with Go Daddy or NameCheap.

If you can tell me a little more about your domain provider, I can share the steps for making the updates to work for both Outlook and HubSpot.

Hi @DWeller no problem, happy to help get it sorted.

It sounds like you configured your domain for the website in HubSpot to also connect the email sending domain, but once you disconnect it from HubSpot and reset your records to your current website provider you can choose to only connect an email sending domain in HubSpot:

Are these the steps you followed already?

Can you share more info about the updates you made with HubSpot support?

Thanks for checking @PortamixMark, I confirmed with HubSpot in the AMA here that SPF isn't required:

Our envelope return path domains all have SPF configured and  for the time being this should be sufficient. The reason we also recommend configuring SPF on the friendlyFrom domain is because it adds an extra layer of security and we are anticipating stricter requirements to come in the future. TL;dr- it's not required but recommend in the event that future restrictions come on board!

I recommend using https://www.learndmarc.com/ to identify the issue with your email sending - you'll need to create a marketing contact with the email address it gives you to test with and then send a marketing email to that contact.

Hi Jennifer

Thanks for the message.

Turned out it didn't fix it.
Whilst we could send emails on Hubspot, the address for our website was then routed to Hubspot which is not who we use to host it.
This meant we had to revert to not using Hubspot for the emails so that people could still see our website.

What we are trying to do is be able to send emaild from Hubspot and still be able to use our website.
If anyone has the settings for this (as I dont beelive all hubspot users have their website domain hosted by Hubnspot) then that would be awesome.

Do you have details on how you fixed this? We've added DNS to our domain and are still hitting issues with sending emails.

@PortamixMark is the email sending domain showing all three items authenticated (DKIM, DMARC, SPF) or is it flagging one as unauthenticated?

More details about the issues you're running into would help with finding a solution.

It's flagging the SPF. I've added the Hubspot line to our current spf DNS record appropriately according to your documentation, with a space before include and only one instance of -all at the end. This has completely haulted our email marketing work.
