Hi there, I am looking to start building out my blog and website content to improve SEO. My usual process is to come up with the ideas, write a draft, and then use tools like ChatGPT or Grammarly to edit and refine it. However, I have heard that Google may rank AI-generated content lower if it sounds generic or lacks originality. I am curious how you approach this. Do you write everything in your own words, or do you use tools that help refine writing without making it sound robotic or AI-generated? (this was also fixed up by chatgpt!)
Hi! Your approach sounds solid. Many SEO pros use AI tools for drafting and editing, but the key is adding your own voice and unique insights so the content feels original. I usually draft with AI, then refine it heavily in my own words to keep it engaging and natural. This helps both readers and search rankings.
Welcome to the Community ! 🎉Thanks for sharing this insight on how to improve content ranking across search engines. It's definitively important to keep content authentic to you brand voice and personality. In fact, HubSpot' Breeze Content Agent makes a great use case for this specific goal as it can generate content for different mediums such as blogs, podcasts, or landing pages all while incorporating your brand's unique voice and personality. Here are some expert resources to learn more about the Breeze Content Agent:
Google nor any search engine or other AI chatbot can accurately predict the use of AI generated content. 100% human written content can actually be considered 100% AI generated by some of the "validators" out there. Googlers themselves have said there are no penalties or detrimental effects for AI-generated content, and any declines in rankings of AI-generated content is mostly likely from other factors.
There is nothing wrong with writing the content yourself and using other apps to proofread and refine your content. It might be a good idea to have a notice or disclosure that AI was used to proofread your content, just for that transparency.
I do recommend that you write the original draft yourself in your own voice.
You should check that the final HTML doesn't have any junk added into the tags and elements. I've noticed that there can be some junk information added to HTML tags that are a clear sign of AI use.
Hey @KPrior1 I'm still a bit of an AI skeptic so am biased, but for organic content it's definitely best to write this in your own voice. You should be putting out content you're knowledgeable on and that your customers would be interested in. Organic content created for volume alone is just adding more slop to the pile. AI can only use content that it has already ingested too, so it's not going to be putting out new content. I wouldn't see a problem with having your grammar fixed by ai if the content is unique, but you should not be using it to generate the content in the first place.
