How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Lesson 5_Systems Management for RevOps.png

You've probably heard it said a million times that data-driven decisions are the best decisions. However, creating and keeping good data isn’t always an easy thing to come by.

There are three main areas you need to invest in if you're going to have good data: process definition, data governance, and tech stack management.

Here’s what I’d love to hear from you:

  1. How do YOU define process definition?
  2. How do YOU define data governance?
  3. How do YOU define tech stack management?

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Process definition: is the first step in the System Management for Rev ops. Means clearly outlining how tasks are done, providing a structured framework.

Data Governance: is an internal framework that manages the availability, usability, integrity and security of data and that establishes data standards and policies that control access to data.

Tech Stack Management: is the CRM software platforms will help you improve your company process and customer experience.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1. Simply the step by step framework on how the things should be done. From Revenue planning till closure of a deal. Also keeping in mind about the post sale scenarios.

2. Data Governance is making the high quality data available throughout the system. The goal of data governance is to establish a framework that allows organizations to effectively manage and utilize their data assets while ensuring compliance with regulations, minimizing risks, and optimizing the value derived from data.

3. Tech Stack Management includes software, programming languages, frameworks, databases, and other technologies to maintain, analyse and report the data. Effective tech stack management ensures that an organization's technology infrastructure supports its current and future business needs while maintaining security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Be ruthlessly simple. Maintain integrity. If you add it, you need to measure it. Where’s the proof of action for adding and measuring this data point? If we can’t track and measure the data we’re adding, what’s the point of it? Who is the data serving? Data that does not produce insight produces no value. Data that produces no value should be removed. A good way to determine if a data point provides value is to ask “What are you looking for? What do you want to know?”

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Process definition as the first step in systems management is about clearly outlining how tasks are done, providing a structured framework. The data governance as the second one, involves managing and securing data, ensuring its accuracy and responsible use through defined policies whereas the tech stack management (third step) is the strategic selection and maintenance of technology tools, creating a cohesive system that supports organizational processes and goals.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Process Definition: It's like a recipe for a task, a step-by-step guide on how to do something.

Data Governance: Taking care of data to ensure it's accurate, secure, and used correctly, with rules for data management.

Tech Stack Management: Choosing and maintaining the right tools (software and hardware) for a project.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Process definition is the whiteboard step. This is where you plan out what the beginning goal and end goal are, then map out the process to achieve your goals. You aren't ready to put it in play, but ready to discuss what data points you need to make the process flow smoothly.

Data Governance is deciding which employees have control of the data.

Ask yourself:

Who is creating or adding information to your systems? Who has the ability to change or delete information? What data is pertinent and what information can be removed?

Then, input and enforce the rules. Keeping your data clean going into the system and managing access allows for good/clean data to work with.

Tech Stack Management is making sure that the tools and processes you have in mind or currently use are the right ones for the job! You may have to redefine or remove processes in place to make them more linear. You may have to add or remove systems as well. This is the time to gather a full list of tools your company is using, manage their usefulness, and make some changes.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

  1. How do YOU define process definition? -- for a small or medium size company, it would involve understanding why there has to be systems management if the business must grow and stay profitable.  the conversation would include using technology to identify important data points in the marketing ,sales & support processes.
  2. How do YOU define data governance? -- THen there has to be guidelines on what type of data the business must prioritize, how all the data can be synced and accessed, permissions and access, the lingo ( dictionary) that it must operate with...etc.
  3. How do YOU define tech stack management? - how many tools are we going to be using? are they important? how cost effective and beneficial are they? what type of complexities will it create and what complexties can it be pulled out to make it work?

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

I'd define the process with these actions and guideposts:

  1. Look at guidance from sales management and enablement in the training program, it's framework.
  2. Talk and meet with sales leaders to map what is actually happening in the course of business activities.
  3. Develop a roadmap of the buyer's journey for each targeted persona. Being buyer centric.
  4. Identify places in their journey where they need help from sales to move forward.
  5. Map those stages out, define exit criteria. T's and C's of proposal agreed.
  6. Provide guidance for how data moves and revenue moves through different systems, people, departments.
  7. Look at the tools that support the need for visibility of the data. Build a value stream map.
  8. Set up rules for changing, adding, deleting info, systems and processes for data collection, management, sharing.
  9. Enforce those rules, with an eye on what the tool does for CX.
  10. Be a steward for simplicity, which may mean use core system over point solutions with better capabilities for a specific function or task. Focus is high value, low friction tools, less customization.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1. Process definition best occurs through identifying what the end-result needs to be then reverse engineering the path to there as simply/efficiently as possible within the cultural boundaries of an organization (e.g. sometimes you have to allow for ineffieciencies or complexities to honor the cultural norms - i.e. timetables/capacity/scripting).

2. The governance occurs when aligning the data, sytems, and personnel to the needs of the org. (customer experience and revenue operations in this case)

3. The stack is the alignment of the tools to the systems, again matching use case to efficiency, as well as organization culture.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1. I define process definition as clearly notating the steps from both customer and team sides- what is needed to be done on each side, and how the system can not only support each step, but accelerate the overall process while costing us less.
2. I define data governance as how we're not only building custom fields across any and all applications being used, but also making sure anyone can step into a role that may need to make data decisions or report data into any portion of the system, and be able to correctly input or understand and interpret what's going on.
3. I define tech stack management (as my strong suit 😂  thank you hubspot academy) but no, I view it as being able to not only understand what's moving between all the different softwares and which direction, but being able to troubleshoot and optimize the systems to cost the least and hum.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Well done Bobby, Well said

I think on a simpler note,
Process handles flow of how data info and handling should be done

Governance relates more to access, control, security and ensuring data integrity

Tech simply ensures that what ever process is in place, the system should be able to replicate that seamlessly not excluding the fact that all teams should be able to access the data centrally

Thank you

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

  1. How do YOU define process definitionWell, i would say Process definition is the set steps that are clearly stated to be followed by the customer facing teams and how the data gotten from these steps would and should be used
  2. How do YOU define data governanceAs its name goes, governing - the way data is used, the fineness and integrity of the data, how secured the data should be and also the access to the data using standards and policies
  3. How do YOU define tech stack managementThis is the act of knowing what tools or platform or CRM to use that best fits the process definitions for optimal financial, operation and revenue actualisation

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

  1. How do YOU define process definition?

Is the stage where according to the definition of my buyer´s journey we identify what kind of process we need to implement, what kind of data we have and we need and also align all the departments into it.

  1. How do YOU define data governance?

The framework, the guide, rules and dictionary we are going to use for the processes and it must be the same across the entire organization

  1. How do YOU define tech stack management?

Decide which necessary tools should be implemented and if there are any tools or systems that should be removed in order to take complexity out for the processes and for the customer.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1. An activity or group of activities that takes the inputs, adds value, and provides outputs to the internal or external customers.

2.Data governance (DG), which is based on internal data standards and policies that also regulate data consumption, is the process of regulating the accessibility, usability, integrity, and security of the data in corporate systems. Data governance that is effective protects against misuse and maintains data consistency and reliability.

3.A tech stack is the collection of technologies that a business uses to create and manage a project or application. Occasionally known as a "solutions stack,"

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

In the definition of the process, data governance and management of the tools, I have seen a lot of similarity with the BI process for companies. It is too important to define

1. Business questions
2.KPIs
3. Periodicity of evaluation of the KPI

4. Data and system for that KPI

In that order, the definition of the process is the efficient work methods, data governance, the way to measure it and have relevant KPIs, and the tools are the easiest way to obtain that data without investing hours in "copy and paste" or raise useless data.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1.Process definition

is the actions/steps that are taken from 3 sides for any form of communication : 1.PersonA  2.PersonB  3. The medium

2.Data Governance

This step is focused on the 3rd side (the medium), how to create a perfect and accessible medium. more like a crime scene for a detective convinient for clues, in this case a data track record that is solid and accessible for the reporter (aka detective)

3.Tech Stack management

The tools that are going to be used in creating the medium as well as the tools to navigate, access and pull from the medium.
