Why was Wikipedia bucketed under Social Media in the sourcing report

When I was analyzing the performance of a landing page, there were a few submissions from Wikipedia, which was bucketed under Social Media. Shouldn't Wikipedia be under Referrals? Thanks.Wikipedia bucketed to Social sourcing in HubSpot.PNG

Hi -

I don't work at HubSpot, but I suspect the categorization has to do with the fact that Wikipedia is a moderated community (a Wiki).  All of the content on Wikipedia is user generated.  It's not a website created by a single organization or group.

From an SEO point of view the referrals from Wikipedia are like Social Media referrals in other ways too.  For example all of the links are nofollow links that don't give you SEO authority.

Hope this helps!
