"Please note: the following behavior is expected for analytics properties:
HubSpot strips UTM parameters and anchors links from visited URLs on contact records. As a result, for analytics properties whose values contain a URL, the values won't contain UTM parameters or anchor links.."
But, I'm seeing properties in my contact records like this:
So, two questions:
1. Isn't it passing in the UTMs in the page seen properties? I'm confused because the article says it strips them.
2. Does it also use those parameters to populate source and drill downs?
@RLaub from past experience, HubSpot has stripped out UTMs on contact records, they're usually only visible via website traffic analytics > other campaigns.
It's possible they changed the properties for first and last page seen to include UTMs, which would be nice for tying back attribution from the contact record directly, based on your screenshot I don't think it will show in original source drill downs, but it's possible it could be in Original source since that has a full URL like first/last seen.
At the bottom of the KB article, there's an option to submit feedback - you can ask whether the information about UTMs is outdated and the KB team will flag it for update.

@Jnix284 it's not showing in original source or latest source. But, it's showing in the drill downs. In my case, what's put in the drill-downs are my UTMs from a click on an other source (a separate application on click of a pop-up). So, wouldn't that mean it's not stripping them but using them for those "analytics properties"?
Hi @RLaub you're right, I wasn't seeing the full URL in the drilldown and didn't realize it was populating the actual campaign/medium from the UTM in those properties.
I've actually not run into this before, I'm not sure if it's a global change or possibly a change to new accounts only, or something else entirely.
@karstenkoehler thanks for sharing the KB for UTMs, any insight why it's not stripping these down as shown in this KB:
