I'd like to know how HubSpot interprets traffic to landing pages that comes from pop ups.
I just had a contact created as "direct traffic" and then downloaded an ebook (and we have a pop up about this ebook) and made me think that it might be the source.
How can we analyze traffic coming from pop ups? and how to differentiate it from direct traffic?
From what you described it sounds like you don't have cross-domain linking setup. If you have the HubSpot tracking code on your website and cross-domain linking active it will show the contacts original source.
So depending on how the contact arrived on your website, HubSpot will assign the original sources as per this knowledge base article.
Upon conversion, you will be able to CTA clicks in the contact's activity feed, and analyse CTA performance in the CTA tool.

However, from what I see, I don't find a source for pop ups. I mean, the pop up is active in our blog, does it mean that it is direct traffic, even if the person found us on google by organic search? The thing is that the contact is created by direct traffic, the conversion is an ebook and that ebook is being advertised in a pop up.
So, assuming that traffic to LP coming from pop ups are Direct traffic, I'd like to see the real differencec between real direct traffic and traffic coming from pop ups.

I know I can see the traffic coming to that LP and the sources, but I want to know where are the pop up conversions attributing to and the difference with the real direct traffic. Does it make sense?
You can look into the contact property's Latest source and original source
if you are looking at where your contacts come from, including how they came to visit your website, or how they were created or updated via offline sources.
Sorry but I still cannot know the answer to the question: how can I differentiate traffic coming to the LP that are from pop ups? Are they all direct traffic?
