Tracking/reporting email forwards

SOLVE

Hi there,

Is it possible to lead score and/or track when someone forwards one of our emails?

Thanks

Tracking/reporting email forwards

SOLVE

Hi @vfiebelmann,

This is not possible, HubSpot generates tracking links specifically for each recipient. (This can have the effect that the numbers of opens and clicks are very high for some contacts – because they forwarded this email to a colleague or team.)

The only workaround that I know of is a bit old-school. You would create a mail-to-link, click here for an example. Code below:

mailto:vfiebelmann@test.com?subject=HubSpot%20Community%20Demo&body=Hey%2C%20I%20found%20this%20post%20I%20wanted%20to%20share%20with%20you%2C%20check%20it%20out%3A%20https%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.hubspot.com%2Ft5%2FReporting-Analytics%2FTracking-reporting-email-forwards%2Fm-p%2F428634%20Cheers!

You can generate these links using this tool: https://mailtolink.me/ All of this would be plain text, however. The recipient field would be left empty (for the forwarder to fill). The link within the mail-to-link could be a tracking URL, created with HubSpot or Google (which would allow you to trace back form submissions and activity to this specific link).
