We have aggressive growth goals for our newsletter. The newsletter will feature smart content for about 5 different types of prospects...thus there will be 5 target lists that will be combined into one master Newsletter list. I understand that I can report on list growth using report performance. Is there a way to create list growth reports that can be added to a overall Dashboard for our newsletter? I don't see a way to create list growth reports? Any sugesstions on the best way to report on Newsletter subscriber growth overall and by sub-target? Thank you.
You're correct, the List size over time visualization can't be added to dashboards.
It looks like you're on an Enterprise subcription so we can make use of workflows and date stamps here. I'd recommend creating custom date properties for each newsletter and one master date property (to keep track of overall subscriber growth). In a workflow for each newsletter, you would first enroll the contacts who sign up for the newsletter, then stamp the date property of this newsletter and then stamp the master date property.
Using these properties, you could now create 6 custom reports (Menu > Reports > Reports > Create custom report), one for each segment and the master report.
This will unfortunately not give you historical data unless you find a way to backfill these date properties. (I can't think of anything that wouldn't be manual.)
Best regards!

Thank you so much for your suggestion! I like it! We will have one smart content newsletter.... and the general content is sent unless the prospects match to a sub-target list (when smart content is added). Just to clarify the steps:
Create custom date properties for each subtarget list and the overall list - called something like "Date Joined XYZ Newsletter list"
Create custom date property for Date Joined ALL Newsletter List.
Create workflow that timestamps (going forward) todays date on when someone joins any of the Newsletter lists.
Create reports that show counts, month over month for each list
