I'm new to this company, and we're trying to understand the organic network and its demographics (industry/business type).
Every Contact/Lead record has a field for the person or company that pointed the lead to the company, but none of them are associated with the Contact/Lead record.
I assume I need the team to create these associations manually. However, I'm still not finding reporting available to determine where our leads are coming from and, if a Deal was created and Won, where the business came from (X% from CPA firms, etc.). Thoughts, please, as I'm short on time and have to get this solved this week.
It could be as simple as visualizing the Count of contacts and this custom field that stores that information in a vertical or horizontal bar chart. Managing associations correctly would however be the best practice, yes.
All of your other reporting needs can also be accomplished with the reporting capabilities in HubSpot:
"where our leads are coming from" – this can either be a single object report or a custom report builder, you want to visualize count of contacts by original source
"where the business came from (X% from CPA firms, etc.)" – this depends on the object that the industry is stored on, but depending on where you capture this information, this could be as simple as visualizing the count of companies by the industry of companies, filtered by the lifecycle stage customer, in a single object report: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/reports/create-custom-single-object-reports?hubs_content=knowledge.hub...
Have a look at these documentations and let me know if / where you're getting stuck! There is a bit of learning curve to HubSpot reports so you might find it helpful to skill up on reporting in general: https://academy.hubspot.com/courses/hubspot-reporting
