Reporting - Traffic - Pages: Showing https://https%3a%2f%2fwww

Hi,

We have a non-HubSpot based web page. Currently connected and showing data in HubSpot. However, when I go to Reports - Traffic - a click on Pages so I can see which page is getting the most views and clicks and conversions, the name of the page is correct (e.i. Software Solution for your Company | Company XYZ), but the link to the page shows https://https%3a%2f%2fwww.companyxyz.com and link doesnt work at all.

Any suggestions on how to fix this or what is causing the issue here?

Many thanks.

Hey @JHajducik it's really impossible to say without being able to see your specific instance to be honest, but I can try offer some help!

The tracking code will take in the page URL and page title *as the code is loaded on the browser*. This is how most tracking codes work, but it also means you're at the mercy of the visitors browser. For example I might have an extension or script that changes your homepage title to "Leave me alone" prior to the tracking code loading, and the tracking code will see that as the valid title of the page and thus track it within analytics with that title.

Normally, if this was a once off I would blame a visitors browser rendering this in a different way, however if this is happening multiple times it would point me to it being your website.

It looks to me like your website or DNS settings may be rendering your URL in an encoded way, either that or you have customised the HubSpot embed code in some way.

First thing I'd check is that the HubSpot embed code is embedded in the source code of your website (not injected through a script) and that there are no other scripts affecting this.

If you've confirmed that then I would reach out to the developer of your site to find out if there is any sort of component or unique element causing the url to be encoded when tracked.

Hi Tom,

thank you very much for your suggestions and explanations!

For clarification - we have a WordPress based website, that I believe is feeding this data to HubSpot via GTM.

I will reach out to our web developer for more information.

Many thanks!
