Lead Sources - Simple Roll Up

Hello!

I've been an SDFC admin for decades (really 🙂 ) and I have teams wanting to move to Hubspot for a CRM.

This is pretty basic... I've been reading about Sources, Drill Down fields, etc. I'm looking to build something similar to "Lead Source" in SFDC that is easy to report on. Lead Sources would be something like Contact Us and Demo Request (from forms), Sales Inbound (from the sales@ email), Support (support@ email), Calendly, etc.

Any suggestions on how to roll up/summarize source data to have a field like this?

Thanks so much in advance!

Having been using Hubspot typically alongside Salesforce for many years, I would just recommend building out a custom property for your needs. Hubspot's default source fields cannot be modified. However, with that said, you could mix utilizing Hubspot data with your own sources to build out better source tracking that encompasses all of your needs.

Thanks, Ben! Would you happen to have a recommendation on how to push/summarize data in that custom field? I'm used to writing flows or building formula fields...

You can do it via Hubspot workflows to update the properties and define the entry as whether the contact was just created or if your custom lead source is empty and then complete your field based on what you captured. That's how I would do it.

I do see your post is tagged with starter. Are you stuck in starter without workflows as an option?

I selected the wrong one 🙂 We have professional.

I built my workflow - I'm using Drill Down Source 2 and assigning a value to a new field called Lead Source. I was able to get the first workflow branch to fire with Drill Down 2 "starts with" user. But then it just passed by the next branches that were Drill Down 2 "contains" Slack, and so on skipping the other branches... Anything I could be missing there? Thank you SO much for your help!

Lead Sources - Simple Roll Up

Hi @KatyG1 - It's really hard to say without doing a deep dive into your instance to look at the logs and test to say why contacts are flowing down one branch but not others. If that's something you needed help with and interests you I can offer some support to jump in and take a look around. Feel free to shoot me a DM if that's something you would like to explore.

I figured out why it's happening, but not sure about the solution...

It's working if the Drill Down value is set in lowercase "userxyz, crm_id, etc" and I use "contains" or "starts with" to set the filter. If the value is something like Calendly or Firefly Meeting, and I try to use the same type of filter, it won't pick up the value in the filter. Hmmm...
