Identify which emails are going into spam folders

SOLVE

Hello,

Two questions:

1. We are using a .org email address and curious if there are any best practices to ensure your domain, particuarly as a .org email address, doesn't end up in spam folders.

2. Is there an out-of-the-box report from HubSpot that shows which emails went into a spam folder? Curious if that's under deliverability or if this info can be measured.

Thank you,
Jack

Identify which emails are going into spam folders

SOLVE

Hi @JSchneider90,

I'm not aware of email service providers treating .org email sending domains differently. If you follow email deliverability best practices, you should be good. For an overview, I can recommend @kaburke's excellent email deliverability listicle. Most importantly, make sure you have connected your email sending domain and set up email authentification (SPF, DMARC).

Regarding your second question, there isn't an out-of-the-box report for this. Using the custom report builder under Menu > Reports > Reports > Create custom report (available in Professional and Enterprise subscriptions), you can create a report on marketing email events. There is an option to visualize the Count of reported spam. Let me know if you need assistance creating this report.

The by far easiest way to access this information is however under Menu > Marketing > Email in the Analyze tab:

Scroll down to Email data chart and change the dropdown to Marked spam:

You can of course always navigate to a specific email and check the number of contacts who marked your email as spam for this individual email.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

Hi @JSchneider90 ,

I had a look in the library for a spam report there isn't a template report there. But you can analyse this in Email tool: Marketing > Email > Analyze

https://prnt.sc/1eb7v05
Scroll down Analyze tab to the end, spam report with of particular emails: https://prnt.sc/1eb8mjk

I could not see any recommendations with regards to specifically .org addresses.

but we do have some really great resources on email deliverability if you would like me to find them and forward those on to you:
