How to keep track of conversions/contacts that call via Google Ads, within Hubspot? (#adcalls)

SOLVE

One of my clients is receiving most of their leads via clients that make a call after clicking on a google ad -via the call extension-.

Currently these contacts are being copied into Hubspot by sales via the Gmail integration. This causes 80% of lead inflow being labeled as "offline source". However, at least 50% of these leads should be labeled "Paid".

Is there a way to track the lead source of these leads in a better and smart way?

(software used to track our calls is Adcalls)

How to keep track of conversions/contacts that call via Google Ads, within Hubspot? (#adcalls)

SOLVE

Hi @Jordy_Beyond

Thank you for the details!

After investigating I want to provide you with some information regarding HubSpot's ability to track phone calls made through your "call tracking" on Google Ads.

HubSpot primarily tracks ads using the parameters that are automatically added to the URL when a contact clicks on an ad. However, certain requirements need to be met for us to track these ads. You can find more details about these requirements here: Requirements for tracking Google Ads.

Unfortunately, phone calls do not allow HubSpot to track the ad click using these parameters. As a result, we are unable to track these calls within our system.

Hope this helps clarify,

Diana

How to keep track of conversions/contacts that call via Google Ads, within Hubspot? (#adcalls)

SOLVE

To track Google AdWords conversions, you can set up conversion tracking in your Google Ads account. Conversion tracking allows you to measure the success of your advertising campaigns by tracking the actions users take after clicking on your ads, such as making a purchase, filling out a contact form, or signing up for a newsletter. Here's how you can set up and track conversions in Google Ads:

  1. Sign in to Your Google Ads Account: Log in to your Google Ads account using your Google account credentials.

  2. Access the Conversion Actions: In your Google Ads account, click on the "Tools & Settings" icon in the upper right corner (represented by a wrench) and then select "Conversions" under the "Measurement" section.

  3. Create a New Conversion Action: To track a new conversion, click on the "+ Conversion" button.

  4. Choose a Conversion Action Type: Google Ads offers several predefined conversion action types, such as website, app, and phone call actions. Select the one that matches your specific conversion goal. For example, you can choose "Website" if you want to track form submissions on your website.

  5. Set Up the Conversion Details: Depending on the conversion action type you selected, you'll need to provide specific details. For a website action, you'll need to enter the following information:

    • Name: Give your conversion action a descriptive name.
    • Category: Select the category that best describes your conversion, such as "Purchase/Sale" or "Lead."
    • Value: You can assign a monetary value to each conversion if applicable.
    • Count: Choose whether you want to count all conversions or unique conversions.
    • Conversion Window: Set the time frame during which a conversion can be attributed to an ad click.
    • View-through Conversions: Enable this option if you want to track conversions that result from ad impressions (view-through conversions).
  6. Include the Conversion Tracking Code on Your Website: Google Ads will provide you with a snippet of code (called the conversion tracking code) that you need to add to the webpage where the conversion occurs. You can either add the code directly or use Google Tag Manager for easier implementation.

  7. Test the Tracking Code: After adding the code to your website, test it to ensure it's working correctly. Google provides a test tool to verify that the tracking code is set up properly and recording conversions.

  8. Save and Complete: Once the tracking code is in place and tested successfully, click "Create and Continue" to save the conversion action.

  9. Assign the Conversion to Specific Campaigns or Ad Groups: You can choose to assign the conversion action to specific campaigns or ad groups, which allows you to measure the performance of your ads against that specific conversion goal.

  10. Monitor and Analyze Conversions: After setting up conversion tracking, you can monitor conversions in your Google Ads account. You'll see data on conversion volume, conversion rate, and conversion value, allowing you to assess the effectiveness of your advertising campaigns.

By implementing conversion tracking, you can gain valuable insights into the impact of your Google Ads campaigns, optimize your ad spend, and make data-driven decisions to improve your ROI.

Hi @Jordy_Beyond

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

I understand that you would like to find a way to receive contacts from Google Ads in HubSpot and be able to track their source correctly. In that case, I highly recommend connecting your Google Ads account with HubSpot. This will allow you to seamlessly integrate your advertising efforts and collect valuable data.

You can find the steps here: Connect your Google Ads account to HubSpot.

Hope this helps,

Diana

Thank you for the response Diana. My Google Ads account is connected and I can see all the contacts that converted via Google ads by submitting a form. However, the contacts that make a direct call via Google Ads call extension and enter our Hubspot system at a later point aren't tracked...
