Help with Deals Closed Totals vs Goals Report

SOLVE

Hi all, I'm trying to build a report that compares the value of 'closed won' deals to a specified goal (possibly something that can be edited manually per month?). I've tried the 'include monthly reference line' but that doesn't allow a specified number per month. I have the closed deals set up in the screenshot but not sure how to go about it next.

Appreciate any help, thanks! Screenshot 2025-06-09 at 6.11.09 PM.png

Hey @SmartListGhost HubSpot is a bit stiff on "goal" reporting. You need to set a goal within a goals tool, it doesn't let you set a specific goal on a per report basis.

For deals you would need to set a sales goal to pull into your reports. The article on how to report on goals might help a bit too!

But ultimately no, you can't just set an arbitray goal line for a specific report within HubSpot. All reports are ultimately determined based on values within your objects, there's not really an "overall value" for your account that you could add into your reports.

Yeah, HubSpot’s reporting around goals can be a bit rigid — especially if you want to set different targets for each month directly in the report. You’re basically locked into using the Goals tool, which doesn’t give you the flexibility to tweak numbers on the fly per report.

One workaround we’ve used is pulling the closed deal data into Google Sheets using Coefficient, and setting up a simple table where monthly targets live in their own column. From there, you can chart actual vs. goal, adjust values as needed, and even automate the whole thing with scheduled refreshes from HubSpot.

Not as clean as doing it inside HubSpot, but it gives you full control over how goals are handled and displayed — especially helpful for exec dashboards or forecasting.

Hi @SmartListGhost,

I've located a similar discussion that could offer some insights. You can check it here: The set goal doesn't show in Deals Closed vs. Goal correctly

I'm also reaching out to a few of our experts—Hey @TomM2, @karstenkoehler, @Wesimplifi_ —do you have any advice for @SmartListGhost  on how to achieve their goal?

Thanks for taking a look 🙂

Best,

Diana
