Filtering dashboards

SOLVE

Hi. I'd like to know if anyone has a way of filtering a dashboard beyond the standard filters.

Use case - I have a dashboard with a set of 'template' reports. I also have contact lists of contacts who have been influenced by a campaign (by our definition, not HubSpot's). What I'd like to do is simply filter the dashboard by those lists. I know I can filter the reports by the list(s), but I don't want to have to either add/remove it across each report every time or create several reports each with a different filtered list associated.

This workaround stems from the cmapaign analysis tool not being appropriate - for example, I cannot folter out employees, tests, partners, etc from these numbers.

Hi @SLongley3,

It's not a workaround that would be very responsive but have you considered adding a default list as a filter to every report? You could then update the criteria of this list and all reports would update accordingly. It wouldn't be an instant refresh, it would always take a moment until the change is reflected in the reports – but you could update all reports where you've added this list filter.

I would probably call this list something like "Reporting filter joker". When unused, it would simply filter for "Create date is known" (which would include all contact records). When you want to apply other filters, you would simply remove "Create date is known" and replace with whatever filter you want to see your reports under.

This is, I think, the closest you can get to your requirements at the moment. After the initial effort of adding this joker to every report, the effort is minimal.

HubSpot newbie here. 100% agree with @SLongley3's goal. We do about 60 trade shows a year. While the source for each is "trade show", the leads for each show are loaded into hubspot as lists. (Not sure if that's the best way to do it or not.) Regardless... I'm trying to establish a dashboard with an array key perfomance metrics and other info to help understand how these leads are being cultivated and what they yield in terms of business. It would be much more convenient if I could simply filter the dashboard by "list" but I can't figure that out.

Thanks Karsten.

This is a great idea. It's the sort of thinking that HubSpot allows us to undertake ourselves sometimes! 🙂

I'm not sure it'll be approriate for my immediate need - I'm not sure management will be willing (trusted) to go and update the filters of the joker list by themselves. Ideally, I'd show them how to do the filtering on the dahsboard themselves and they can self-serve the data.

I still think I'll be able to use this in other cases, it's a great solution. Thanks!
