Drop in GA4 traffic since July 25th 2024 - was it the banner update?

SOLVE

We have seen a sharp drop off in traffic since July 25th 2024 in Google Analytics, not so in Hubspot Analytics.

I am trying to narrow down the cause.

The cookie banner was updated in July 24 - any chance this could have caused it? Even if notI think it is something consent related.

Otherwise it could be some legacy UA tracking Google removed. GA4 tracking has been ever-present.

Hi @HoppyHenderson  - If your updated banner has an opt-in module for consent, you'll see a drop in traffic. In my experience, almost 50% of the users do not perform any action on the banner, which is the reason why GA does not match with HubSpot. I'd suggest checking your cookie banner settings. According to HubSpot, if you have a cookie consent banner that requires opt-in, it could affect the number of sessions and views tracked.

Thanks.
