Discrapency between session time and time per page view
SOLVE
We are struggling to understand the time users spend on our pages. How is it possible that we get a session length of a few seconds for traffic from the same source and for the same time interval, yet a much longer time per page view of the same traffic?
For example, in the example below, we have 169 leads with a session length of 2 seconds and a page view time of 52 seconds.
Technically the way HubSpot calculates time on page is based on the difference between the time a visitor views that page, and the time they view the next page.
For scenarios where a visitor does not navigate to another page after the current page, we can't calculate the time on page for that view.
If only a part of your visitors viewed an additional page, that would explain how there can be a discrepancy between time per page view (only calculated for those who viewed an additional page) and session length. Contacts who would bounce after very short page views would not be included in the time per page view metric and lower the average session length.
Best regards!
