Creating a report on Unsubscribes

SOLVE

I am looking to build a report on Unsubscribes that shows me day to day or week to week or month to month of who unsubscribed. I don't want to download a list of unsubscribed. Just want to visualize it and see when someone did after what email all on one report.

Hi @ZoeHagfeldt   The type of visualization you are seeking is not possible using HubSpot tools. Your email results page does offer the option to make lists of unsubscribed per email send. Your best bet for viusalization options would be to download these lists to Excel or Google Sheets for further analysis.

HubSpot reports created via the Reporting Add-on show the current status of a specific property. While you wouldn't be able to drill down to contact activity after an unsubscribe (or the actual names of the contacts), you would be able to see the total amount of contacts who have opted out of a specific email type (you could break these down to monthly or weekly metrics also). In order to tdo this though, you wpould need to create a report based on the Opt-out property of each marketing email type (the attached screenshot shows a sample report).  More about the reporting add-on including a link to a free trial here.

Your use case sounds compling however. Tagging a few of our partners and INBOUND proffessors here for further insight. @Phil_Vallender  @MFrankJohnson @cbsembler Any ideas here?

Thank you,

Ed Justen

Creating a report on Unsubscribes

SOLVE

Q: Need to create a report showing Unsubscribes (for viewing, not download)

Short A: Sounds like you want to start with filters.

Longer A: The easiest way is to just filter on 'Opted out of [fill in your email type] is any of yes' (see image below).

If you want to get more control over which contacts show (e.g., timeframes and possibly other criteris), build a smart list with your complex criteria then filter based on that smart list.

TIP: Remember, you can save your filters sorted by something meaningful to YOU -- like date, so the contacts appear in the order that's relevant to you.

Hope that helps.

Is there any update on having this kind of reporting? Would be really useful for me to see whether the implementation of email subscription types last year and a manage my preferences link at the bottom of all our emails rather than a blanket unsubscribe has improved our stats of unsubscribe from all.

Hi Lucinda,
what you should do is to create a workflow that sets a custom date property (let's call it 'Unsubscribe date') as 'Date of step' for each contact that Unsubscribes.
Then you'll be able to use this property in your report to see the number of unsubscribed contacts week by week, month by month, etc.
Unfortunately, this report is not retroactive.

I believe HubSpot should create a default property 'Unsubscribe date' that populated once a contact became an Unsubscribed.

Hi Frank,

Would you be able to elaborate on how to show timeframes through building a smart list and then filtering? I'm struggling to work out how to show opt outs by month.

Thanks,

Natalie

Hi @ncr,

I think what @MFrankJohnson is refering to is the rolling date filters that are available for some properties and criteria within smart lists.

Thanks,
Jenny

Hi @jennysowyrda,

Is the analyze tab in the email section also a way of demonstrating unsubscribes?

I see that here it displays contacts lost and you can toggle the dates to reflect the time period you want to see.  See image below.

Hi @ncr,

You can see the contacts who have unsubscribed through a specific email by clicking into the recipients tab.
