Avg length of marketing contacts

SOLVE

Hello -

I have to create a report that shows the average length of time someone is a marketing contact (how long they stay on a list for "all marketing contacts"). Is this even possible? I'm stumped.

Hi @asiaferguson,

 

Out of the box it's not possible, no. This could be achieved with a workflow that sets a date stamp when a contact becomes a marketing contact, another workflow that sets a date stamp when a contact loses the marketing contact status. With a calculation property, you could then calculate the duration between those dates.

 

May I ask why you're interested in this duration? From a first glance, it doesn't yield any analytical value. It would tell you how long contacts are typically a billable contact (https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/marketing-contacts), but depending on how marketing contact status is handled, this could be on-off-on-off. I'd love to understand where that question is coming from.

 

In any case, analyzing this retroactively is not possible without the setup explained above + exporting and re-importing historic property values.
