Attribution Reports: Get Auto-tagged Google ads ad group data as a drill-down dimension
SOLVE
My goal is to see which Google Ads ad groups (1 level lower than Google Ads campaigns) impacted contact creation. Currently I can drill down attribution reports by e.g.
Interaction source -> Paid Search
Interaction data 1 -> [campaign name]
but it looks like there is no way to get the ID or name of an ad group when using auto-tagging on Google ads, because the tracking template that HubSpot does not populate any interaction data point that could be used in attribution reports - only campaign name and keyword, whereas ad group/set id is pushed to a HubSpot field that is relevant fopr the Ads tool in HubSpot, but apparently not available in attribution reports. (see screenshots).
Is there currently any known way to get ad group ID or name into HubSpot attribution reports while keep Google Ads auto-tagging activated (i.e. I know I could tag all Google ads manually and use a free UTM parameter such as utm_content to push over the ad group ID, but this would be tedious to do in a Google Ads account with many different campaigns/ad sets/ads)?
As far as I know, the ad group name isn't available to use as a dimension within the custom attribution report builder. And when I set "Ad Keyword" as a dimension on my end, I just see an internal ID, not the actual keyword. It looks like "Ad group" is an available filter within the Customer Journey Analytics tool, but I'm not sure if that would accomplish what you're after (plus it requires a Marketing Hub Enterprise subscription):
You can also report on contacts and ads interactions within the custom report builder, so definitely check that out to see if it gets you any closer:
Outside of the custom UTM approach you mentioned, I'm not sure of a way to connect this ad data to the custom report builder. I strongly recommend sharing your thoughts and use case in the HubSpot Ideas forum for the best chance at getting in front of the HubSpot product team!

Hey there @LSadowski, my colleague Stephen asked if you're able to see this from the general ads reporting view? As long as conversions are set up properly, if it's genuinely just looking at which ad groups created net new contacts you shouldn't need attribution reporting. Is that the case for you?

@LSadowski here's a look at what Stephen is thinking of:
Another colleague, Rachel, thinks the differentiator here may be related to the "auto-tagged" part. This example is with manual utms on our ads passing the ad group to the UTM content field for attribution reports.
At this time, we don't see anything for forcing auto-tag to pass this information, it would need to be done through manual tracking URLs.

Thanks for the tag @kvlschaefer. I don't know the answer off the top of my head, but I've reached out to some of my colleagues for some help for @LSadowski. Hopefully they'll pop in, or I'l be back with an answer.
