[Live] Schedule subscription on a future date

What is it?

HubSpot Payment customers can now configure recurring products and services to start billing on a future calendar date when you get paid.

Why does it matter?

Currently, all subscriptions with HubSpot payments start right after the buyer goes through checkout. However, many times the payment for recurring products needs to start on a date different from the checkout date of the buyer. Examples of such use cases are:

  • Complete user onboarding or deliver a few milestones before charging the buyer on a regular basis
  • Sell online courses & classes that are set to start on a fixed date in the future, and that's when the payment should be collected
  • Align the billing cycle for all new buyers for easy accounting processes

How does it work?

When creating a payment link or quote, merchants can configure the "billing start date" for recurring line items by choosing a date from the calendar.

When the buyer proceeds to checkout on such a payment link, they will see the amount to be paid today and future charges clearly.

The payment notification & buyer receipt will also be updated with the start dates of their subscriptions.

In the HubSpot CRM, the newly created subscription record will have a new status called "Scheduled" and it will start billing as per the configured date.

Supported configuration:

  • Add at least one one-time billable product that will be charged on the initial checkout session
  • All recurring line items should be configured to start on the same future date

Who gets it?

All HubSpot payments customers. Currently, HubSpot payments is available to U.S.-based customers using a Starter, Professional, or Enterprise edition of any hub.
