[Live] Advanced third-party filtering for data sync

What is it?

We have added advanced filtering capabilities to data sync, the native way of syncing HubSpot with your third-party apps. We specifically improved the filtering functionality for inbound data. Now you can much more precisely determine what records can be synced into your HubSpot portal from your third-party app.

Why does it matter?

With this update, we are giving our data sync users more control over the way their data flows in and out of their systems. Previously, if you didn't want to sync all of your records into HubSpot, you could only use one filter. This meant you had to manually check and manage the data inside your third-party app to ensure all the right records matched the single data sync filter.

The new advanced filtering capabilities give you the granularity you require to sync the records you need without any manual back-and-forth – meaning a lot of time and effort saved.

How does it work?

To check out the new advanced third-party filters, go to your data sync integration of choice. Click the gear icon in the top navigation bar and go to "Settings". On the settings sidebar go to "Integrations" > "Connected Apps". Next, click on the third-party data sync app of your choice and go to its settings page. You'll find the new capabilities on the "2. Limit" tab.

To add your third-party filters, click on "Edit". A new side panel will appear listing all the available properties in your third-party app. Unless you're new to HubSpot, filtering will seem very familiar from here on out. Just like when creating an active list or a saved view, you can adjust the logic using "and" and "or" modifiers.

Note that the filtering functionality from HubSpot towards the third-party app remains unchanged. For most objects, you can still filter on static and active lists.

As part of this release, we also made filters more transparent. We are now able to explicitly call out when an integration comes with a required filter. For instance, when syncing Microsoft Dynamics Leads, the required lifecycle stage filter is shown alongside the chosen list filter.

Who gets it?

This update is now live for everyone and has been rolled out to support all 100+ data sync apps and their objects.
