Apply Taxes on Line Items

What is it?

Users will now have the ability to create, organize, and apply tax rates on individual line items across all tools such as Quotes, Deals, Payment links, Invoices, and Subscriptions.

Why does it matter?

Customers may require tax to be a part of the product or service they offer. Tax can now be added during line item creation across all tools which allows users to associate tax to a specific line item.

How does it work?

  • Within the vertical navigation, go to Commerce --> Products --> Settings

  • Users will be brought to the Products Settings page

  • Users can now enter in a tax rate and name

  • The tax rate will show up in the tax rate library

  • When creating line items on a Quote, Deal, Payment Link, etc. you will see a new tax rate property which will display the tax rates you previously created

  • Taxes will be reflected within the line item table and subtotals

This example shows a walkthrough for Quotes, but line item taxes can be applied to Invoices, Deals, Subscriptions, and Payment Links.

Who gets it?

Hi @AnnaQ.

I tried this out, but made a typo in the % of one of my tax rates... and I'm not able to edit it! I can see I can create additional tax rates, but that's not helpful because having multiple taxes will only lead to user error, so this has to be fixed.

Can Hubspot support manually edit a tax rate for me (or delete it so I can replace with the correct tax rate), or is my account broken beyond repair (i.e. I need to delete the entire account, and create a new account from scratch, to correct my typo and prevent years and years of user error)?

I'm currently a free user actively evaluating Hubspot vs other CRMs and have a trial of Professional Platform scheduled, but have put it on hold until I know this matter is resolved (I don't want to use a trial building on an account that's unsalvagable).

I tried this. But I do not understand why the tax per line item can not be configured in the product library.

As a result I have to add the tax for each line item, in each invoice, quote and deal.

Who thought this was a good idea?

Can we please look at having this field in the product library so products can have a tax selected by default?

This is better than adding a one time tax, but if we could get it to defualt to each line item or apply the tax to specific products, so that when line items are entered they already have the relevant tax rate applied.

It would be ideal to have the ability to add Net price with tax to the quote. At the moment it just shows the ex. tax price with a small +$XX underneath. This looks confusing.

Can Hubspot look at adding the 'Net Price with tax' to the quote templates so you can see ex. tax price and price with tax?

Thanks

Why do we have to add taxes for services?

Has anyone discovered a way to turn on the tax automatically for products?
There's only one tax rate where we are and it applies to all the products we sell through our website which is automatically added to HubSpot via the WooCommerce integration, so it's a real pain having to go in and manually add the tax to line items on each deal. Is there any way to specify the tax rate when setting up products or have it universally apply to all products so it's automatically included? Any tips would be much appreciated!
