Using 30,000 Email Credits with 13,700+ Contacts — Best Strategy?

Hi everyone,
My name is Samuel McClenton — I’m a small business owner operating Yum Yum’s Gourmet Popcorn with both an online presence and two brick-and-mortar locations. I’m new to some of HubSpot’s deeper marketing features and excited to learn how things work so I can grow and engage my customer base effectively.
I currently have:
Over 13,000 mobile numbers
A little over 1,000 email addresses
Salesmsg integrated into my HubSpot portal
I'm considering purchasing around 30,000 text or email credits, but I’m unclear on how these credits function — especially when it comes to marketing emails. It seems like the portal leans toward email credits rather than SMS, but the language is a bit confusing.
Here’s what I’d love some clarity on:
If I purchase these credits, can I freely use them across my contact list (13,700+ total, mostly email and mobile)?
Are there any limitations to using these credits on the Starter Plan (I’m trying to avoid having to upgrade to Pro unless necessary)?
Can I use the credits to send bulk emails manually, or do I need to upgrade for automation?
And finally — if anyone else is using Salesmsg + HubSpot together, I’d love to hear how you’re using it for follow-ups, loyalty rewards, or list segmentation.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m just trying to make sure I get the most out of what I invest in.
