pin sales add-in always open

Hi

Does anyone know how to set the sales add-in in outlook to always be pinned open as default for all users? Is this even possible or do users have to remember to open and pin it each time they open outlook?

As a brand-new user of the Sales Add-In for Outlook, I can confirm, this is a real pain point.

 

In Outlook for the Web, you cannot pin the Add-In in the task bar, and much worse, you cannot keep the Add-In sidebar open. Every single time you open an email, if you want to log it or have a reply logged to Hubspot, you must again open the Add-In "manually".

 

Every time you Compose an email, you must open the Add-In "manually." 

 

This is so inefficient if you are opening and processing a lot of emails....constantly having to open the Add-In for logging to Hubspot. 

 

I do not have the Outlook for Desktop app, so I don't know what that experience is like. FYI, I cannot use the add-in in MS Edge; it ONLY operates when I am using it within Chrome.

It makes it impossible for our organization to keep track of all relevant conversations. Nobody will remember opening it manually every time. There is really no workaround? That would be a deal breaker...

kvlschaefer I'm having the same issue. We switched from Gmail to Outlook recently and the way Hubspot uses Outlook is TRASH!! It's unusable. What's the point of the pin if you have to re-pin every single time you open an email. I'd say 60% of our emails coming from Outlook aren't getting logged or tracked because it doesn't happen by default. It requires opening the Add-In window before clicking send EVERY TIME. This is ridiculous for what this product costs.

It's my understanding that you would like to know if it's possible for an admin to pin the task pane open for every user by default. This is a great suggestion for our product team!

 

This is currently not possible because the task pane pin is considered a customizable feature at the individual user level. That being said, I wanted to share this related knowledge base article which explains how users can pin the Office 365 Add-In in their email.

 

I would recommend sharing the article with your team and potentially adding it as an onboarding task for new employees so you can keep track of your team members who are using the add-in. 🙂

 

I would also highly recommend you to please submit this product suggestion at our ideas forum.

 

Our product team, who monitors the forum regularly, can read your specific use case and understand why this would be a useful functionality or change. It also helps other customers facing the same issue to advocate for its implementation on your behalf by upvoting on the thread as well.

Thanks for the reply. I think this function may need to be an Office 365 deployment.

 

So that I'm clear, when a user closes outlook on their Mac, the next time they open outlook they need to manually re-pin the add-in. 

 

I just need clarity to know if its just my outlook that is closing the pin or whether this is standard functionality.

Apparently, you are correct, and it is not just MACs; it is PCs as well. Over a year later, this is still an issue with the online version of this app. Every time the browser closes, you have to manually repin the app.
